2024 Wexford

Looking for something creative and fun for the little ones to do during your visit to Wexford for the Fleadh? Maybe you might want to drop off the kids for an hour of art while you go off and enjoy the jovial happenings on the town amid all the music and banter. We’ll be running workshops upstairs in the Light and Shadow studios that will cater to the young, creative minds out there.

As you will see from the times below there are four opportunities for classes per day, starting at 11am and finishing at 5pm. Classes will last one hour each and are €15/class. Summer Programme

The summer programme is finally here :)

Check out our cool workshops below and just get in touch to secure your budding young artist’s place.

Build your own Automaton Workshop

We are going to kick off the Summer workshops and get things moving, quite literally, with making a mechanical bird sculpture that actually moves!

In this workshop we will explore the dynamics of movement and the mechanics of motion. Each student will construct and decorate their very own moving bird to take home with them at the end of the workshop.

These are so fun to make but the real pay-off is when they’re finally finished and you turn the crank and they start to flap their wings.

OOhhs and AAhhs guaranteed

Screen Printing Workshop

Tired of being branded by all these corporate/capitalist juggernauts?

Fed up wearing tired and uninspired clothing?

Then come along and show them how it should be done by creating your own designs and printing them on your own clothing and apparel.

In this workshop students will learn the basic steps of creating a design, making a screen, flushing a screen and how to print and secure their design.

Students will let their imaginations flow and create cool, quirky designs on t-shirts and tote bags which they will take home with them at the end of the workshop.

Bring a snack as we will have a short break.

Sketchbook Craft and Day-trip to Bray

All aboard!

In this 2 day workshop we will create a lustrous dragon cover for a notebook (supplied) on the first day. Then bring it with us on an adventure to Bray seafront on the train on day 2. We will take on some drawing challenges on the train journey and then do some observational drawing when we get there. We will visit a couple of galleries to check out some art and then have some fun in the arcade before picnicking on the beach, weather permitting of course :) This will be a fun, relaxed day out and a great day for group bonding.

Day 2 times still to be confirmed as we are bound to the train timetable. This will be decided nearer the time, but not to worry your budding young artists will be home in time for tea :)

Bring a snack as we will have a picnic in Bray.

Price includes return train ticket.
